Flashback

I guess this is the week where I reach out to my Buddies for postings.  A few weeks ago, my bud John sent me a couple of photographs his daughter, the feisty Sammi, found in a box of photos and ultimately scanned.

If you recall, last year (February 19, 2011 if you care to be precise) I did a story on the irony of driving a Trailblazer in Baghdad.  Well, here’s a photo of me behind the “wheel” of a Trailblazer in Texas.

For those of you wondering, there’s a gas pedal on the floor but no foot brake.  You brake by pulling both levers backwards.  To turn right (while moving of course), pull the right lever back [and whatever you do, don’t push down on the button at the top of the lever or it will lock in place], to turn left, pull the left lever back.

Now imagine me going down a very steep incline with both my feet on the dashboard so I could pull back with all my might (or was that so I didn’t fall forward over the levers?).  If this doesn’t make sense, go back to last year’s story, or do a search for “Trailblazer” and read it.  It’s worth revisiting.
