What do WIMPs and MACHOs have in common?

They’re both theories physicists have come up with to try and explain dark matter!

M - Massive

A - Astrophysical

C - Compact

H - Halo

O - Object

versus

W - Weakly

I - Interacting

M - Massive

P - Particle

The WIMP theory was developed (and named) in response to the MACHO theory.

At this point, it looks like the WIMPs are prevailing in the scientific testing.
